Worship Service Details

December 10, 2020

Church Family,

I hope that you are having a good week and are looking forward to a great weekend. This will be the eighth Sunday in a row that we have baptized someone in one of our three services. Last Sunday we had someone join in all three services! We praise the Lord for His blessing and pray that He will continue to draw people to be a part of the Immanuel family.

I wanted to remind you of a few things that are coming up for us in the next several weeks. This Sunday at 5:00 pm, Mark and his team will be presenting “A Parade of Choirs”. This will include our Adult Choir, Ignite (our Student Creative Arts Team), and our Children’s Choir. It will be a great time of Christmas celebration. We have concluded Wednesday nights on campus for the remainder of December, but I will be live streaming our Revelation Bible Study next Wednesday night. Be sure and tune in as we finish Chapter 19 and discuss the Battle of Armageddon. This Sunday we will move back to mask required for our 11:15 worship service. This will allow us to provide a safe worship environment for those that have a higher health risk.

Let’s come this Sunday with great anticipation as we continue to see God move in our midst. See you then!

Dear Church Family,

I hope you are doing well and had a great Thanksgiving season. Christmas is upon us and we will look forward to all of the festivities that the season brings but most importantly the celebration of the birth of our Savior and Lord. While we approach this season with high expectations, we need to continue to move forward with caution. We are seeing a rise in COVID cases in our church just as we are within our community. It is critical that we are proactive and do all we can to provide a safe and healthy worship environment for all our members and guests.

This is my first major decision to lead as Senior Pastor of Immanuel, and I can assure you that it has not come without much prayer, heartache, and consultation. I have spoken with our deacon leadership and staff leadership teams. We believe, without exception, it is necessary to suspend on-campus Sunday School classes, effective immediately. We are praying and hopeful for a tentative restart date of January 10th. Our Sunday School Team has done a great job of successfully launching two Sunday School hours. We are beginning to see more COVID situations in all of our age groups with either positive tests or quarantine situations. While Sunday School is a cornerstone at Immanuel, we do not want to put people at risk. Dwight Moss and our age group leaders will be sending information to our leaders on how to stay connected through the holiday season.

December 9th will be the last Wednesday night that we will meet this year with a tentative restart date of January 13th. This will give our choirs ample time to practice before their Christmas presentations. Mark and I talked this morning, and we are still planning on having the Christmas Eve service on December 24th, but we both believe that needs to be a tentative date.

We will continue our regular Sunday morning worship schedule with childcare provided birth through 4 years old for all three services. As we have been doing, please continue to be careful with social distancing and wearing masks. Hand sanitizers will be available in all buildings.

We are walking through difficult times right now. Decisions are being made that affect families across the board. School boards are making decisions, businesses are making decisions and churches are making decisions. I believe it is smart for us as a church to limit the opportunities for exposure to a minimum so that we can continue to meet in worship through this pandemic. Let’s remember God is moving in our midst! We have two baptisms this Sunday which will be seven Sundays in a row that we have celebrated baptisms! We have several others waiting to be baptized as well. Let’s continue to come every Sunday with an expectation that God is going to move. See you Sunday!

Phase III: Beginning Sunday, October 18, 2020

Church Family,

I hope you are as excited as I am for our return to Sunday School this Sunday! A lot of work has gone into the preparation for this monumental event in the life of Immanuel Baptist Church. Not only are we returning to Sunday School, but we are returning with more opportunity to reach more people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There are several things I want to remind you of as we make our final preparations for this Sunday.

1. Times and services

  • We will begin our new schedule this Sunday. There will be three different opportunities for you to worship in the Sanctuary: 8:30 Blended Service, 10:00 Contemporary Service, and 11:15 Traditional Service. I am excited to continue all three services as we attempt to value every generation in our church.

  • You will now have two opportunities for Sunday School. We will offer Sunday School classes at 8:30 and 10:00. This will give you options to choose the worship service that you would like to attend and a Sunday School hour to fit your schedule. Please click here for a listing of Sunday School classes.

2. Parking and entrances

  • You will now be able to park in any lot that you choose and enter and exit through any door that you choose. We have been very careful over the last several months to park and enter through specific doors during our re-entry. You have done a great job with that and we are now ready to open all parking lots and doors on our campus.

3. Covid protocol

  • I want to encourage you to continue to use safety protocol as we re-enter into Sunday School. You will notice in your classes that we have set up the rooms to accommodate physical distancing as much as possible. While wearing a mask is certainly acceptable, it will not be required at any of our services. Please feel comfortable wearing a mask if that is what you feel you need to do.

Let us continue to pray and look forward to this weekend with great anticipation. I have told our staff that I am not looking for a particular number to determine success for this weekend. God will give us victory because we are gathered as His family, we are studying His Word, and we are resting in His love. I look forward to seeing you this weekend! And let’s hope that Marty and Doc are able to land in the right decade this Sunday!
